Classes and Tracks
A note from the organizers
Our tracks are designed to be challenging. If you attended last year, please be aware that we expect to raise the bar slightly in both the
intermediate and advanced tracks. The advanced track requires an audition. Our begintermediate track is comparable to the intermediate track at many other workshops.
Since level names can never completely describe a dancer's abilities, we
ask that you review the track descriptions below to assist in finding the one that fits your goals as a dancer.
Main Tracks
Begintermediate - Individual Class Descriptions
You are already familiar with lindy hop. You routinely dance
lindy hop on the dance floor and are comfortable with the standard repertoire listed here.
You want to continue to smooth out your fundamentals, and to bolster your repertoire.
Intermediate - Individual Class Descriptions
You have been dancing for a few years now. You travel
to other scenes, and dance regularly with many people. You can transition between
6 and 8 count rhythms without thinking about it; it's just all part of the dance for you.
You want to gain a better understanding of connection and rhythm.
You want to work on your fundamentals so that you can create new moves, shapes, and patterns.
Advanced - Individual Class Descriptions
Counts, steps, triple steps? What are you talking about? There's just music!
You find yourself doing things without thinking and they work, even when you don't know what they are.
When you see a move you get the general idea pretty quickly, and just need to try it out.
Or you can follow with your eyes closed, feel everything your leader asks you to do, and add to the dance.
You want classes that will be super-challenging, but you understand that sometimes the challenge is in the details.
You're ok with spending a whole class deepening your understanding of one move; you're also ok with classes that move quickly and leave you
knowing several moves that you can't quite execute yet.
This track requires an audition. Auditions will be held on Saturday morning. For more about the audition process, see our FAQ
This track is NOT available a la carte for single classes, as it will be full.
Electives
Each elective is a single class that can be taken by any level of student.
